“So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path.”
Proverbs 2:2-9
Sometimes it’s hard to make decisions. Not sure where to go, what to do, how to say, when to move. We don’t want to make foolish choices that will cost us much. With many seasons of change, how do we know we are moving in the right direction? In our time of prayer, we are fasting folly.
Folly is the state or quality of being foolish; lack of understanding or sense; a foolish action, practice, idea, etc.; absurdity; a costly and foolish undertaking; unwise investment or expenditure. We must seek after wisdom, understanding and right judgement when it comes to our personal growth in life.
“The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, But the folly of fools is deceit.”
Proverbs 14:8 NKJV“Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
Ephesians 5:17 NKJV“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,”
Ephesians 5:18 NKJV“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
John 14:26 NKJV
I used this series of verses because we first must seek wisdom by coming closer to God in prayer. We need to request wisdom in the same way King Solomon asked for wisdom above riches in the book of 1 Kings. We need to understand what the will of the Lord is and many are walking around blindly with no concept or idea of what God really has for them since the beginning of time.
The bible reminds us not to live a life intoxicatingly in the natural things but to live a life where we are intoxicatingly and immensely filled with God’s presence so that we know what to do from moment to moment. As we are filled with His spirit and sensitive to those inner promptings then we will make not only constant moves but we will make concrete and correct choices! The Spirit of God is in us and knows all things. We become stuck in a place of uncertainty when we are not seeking what the will of the Lord is.
We are going to heavily pray and fast folly! Fast foolishness! Fast frivolity! For we fix our eyes on Christ Jesus and the purpose in which He established for us. His purpose and plan for us is best!
Today I heard a sermon about the withered hand man from Luke 6 by Pastor Tony Mendez. It was so profound and accurate as we are always stuck in the land of our struggles. We are always contemplating.
Where should I go?
What should I do?
What shall I hear?
How shall I live?
What does God want from me?
I want to please God but I am stuck with this withered issue! How am I even useful to Him if my situation is shriveled? I have these problems. But now is the time to JUST DO ALL THAT HE ASKS by exposing all these things to Him and allowing Him to guide you down a path of wholeness and restoration! Choose right and God will shine His light over you!
No more folly!
No more foolishness!
No more frivolous living!
WE LIVE FOR CHRIST now! We live a life of freedom and we seek His will for us. In our respondent and obedience hearts we will gain that understanding from God.
Every day it becomes more clear that the choices I make now are beyond my will but the will in which He established for me to be WHOLE!
Fasting folly first and fighting through with all the strength I have. Even if it looks withered like the leaves in the picture! They are still unique and colorful. They exist for a reason and go through each season…. Til all the leaves come tumbling down so vividly they wither up only to have another batch blossom next.
God knows what He is doing and He doesn’t want you to walk in blindly especially when it comes to your purposed life! Walk in willingly, wisely and with everything you have! That’s the best decision you could make… And watch Him work wonderful things for you.
We are fasting folly!

I had to re-blog this post by Pastor Christina Mendez! We REFUSE to be a people full of FOLLY! We have the mind of Christ and have ACCESS to the WISDOM of God. Let’s make a committment to USE IT, in the NAME OF JESUS!
