Seed

FOR NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!
Luke 1:37

Winding down for the evening as thoughts of tomorrow keep pressing me. I get this knot in my stomach when stuff is just so off.

I want everything to be in place.

I want joy.

I want peace.

I want things to work out and not have to be so out of reach for me.

I can’t have one thing run good and let it stay that way without any other friction surfacing at the same time.

Today I got my first seed for “Rise Above Adversity!” My second book release. I waited all day for this book to come in yesterday from Amazon—finally to see it live! So I ordered this special copy for myself intended to keep it.

When the book arrives last night and I examine it, the book is smaller than Rebuilt. I said, “Wow, it’s beautiful but I can’t sell this for $20!!!” And my husband said “Don’t worry —yes you can. It is not about the size of the book but the content that is in it.” So I asked our administrator too (lol) and he said “It’s fine, people will buy it but if you feel like to change it then whatever.”

I am walking around with the book and when we got to a second church to preach as a guest in New Jersey, a man begged me for MY BOOK!!! I’m like, “NO! This is my copy.” He said “I am not leaving without that book I need it!” I said “Okay fine …” I hand him the book and he gave me folded money. He was super happy. I just threw it in my bag. A few minutes later I look and I am like this is a $20 bill but I come to see it is $50!!!!! The Spirit told me, “Don’t put a price on that book! It is a seed!” 😱😱 Glory to Jesus 🙏🏽🙌🏽

A seed! Both things happen to the seed…. it gets buried in the ground and also planted. The burying part is the rough part. Because you see nothing. Even the seed is covered. It’s dark, dirty and deep within so no one can see. You would think that this is OVER FOR THE SEED!

Nope! It is just being planted when it gets buried that deep. We always go through both simultaneously. The bad and the good. Except the good is really going to be amazing. For just when things look impossible….. they are possible. For it is only for a moment and a temporary time that the seed is buried unseen!

The deeper it is buried and with the right soil (our care of the Word) it is going to sprout to be such a harvest! It is possible. God says, IMPOSSIBLE means that IM POSSIBLE!!!

Huge note to self….

I am just writing to myself here once again.

May every doubt be canceled! I must believe–nothing is impossible for my God.

Let go of the doubt Chris, when it tries to bury you fast. It’s going to be a harvest! Have faith!

This seed is my harvest.

Middle of the Miracle

So He left Judea and went back once more to Galilee.  Now He had to go through Samaria.  So He came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of the ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph.  Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as He was from the journey, sat down by the well.  It was about noon.  When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”
John 4:3-7

How many times have you experienced being so worn out from the journey?

The journey of life, work, home, health, ministry, projects, plans, goals, marriage, relationships and all other business that can wear and tear on a person from moment to moment.

Jesus in all His anointing and supernatural power comes to a halt on His journey because He was weary.  But in His weariness He uses this opportunity to minister to the life of another person who was also worn out spiritually.

This woman doesn’t have a name. But it doesn’t even matter because this is a woman that describes you and me.  She describes humanity. However, the emphasis that I want to bring with this passage is the time that Jesus sat down from His weariness. The bible points out the time that this woman went to go draw water.

It was in the middle of the day.

It gets so hot in Samaria by the afternoon, that water was typically drawn early in the morning! That would have been the smart thing to do for this woman. But she doesn’t do that. Nothing that she had done in her life was wise at this point of her life. God uses this hour of the day to illustrate such a miracle to us all.

He does it in broad daylight! He uses this opportunity to bring a woman at the feet of the Savior to take a drink that will never ever again leave her running on empty.

How are those moments for you when you find yourself running on empty?

In the middle of the day.

In the middle of the journey.

In the middle of the miracle.

I am reflecting on how I even got to this moment of my life.  How I thought in all my years of learning, working, building and planting that it would lead me to a place of utter loss.

In the middle of my journey, I need a miracle. In the middle of the day for me I can’t help but feel doubt, anger, confusion, frustration, embarrassment and shame for having failed at something that I thought was going to take us to the next level of success.

Yes –because this wasn’t even just about me.  It is for my whole family and those I impact daily.

Wow! What a turnaround moment for me. What a detour.

At this time I have been searching in the Word in such a way, so meticulously at the lives of Joseph, Moses and also –this nameless woman at the well. That is me today. Someone nameless, jobless, hopeless, restless and feeling oh so useless!

What am I going to do now but wait upon the Lord.  Knowing that in the middle of this mess! In the middle of this less! In the middle of this lesson–the miracle has already been given to me.

I don’t know if you are finding yourself in the same situation as me–somewhere in the middle point of life.  In the pivotal connecting points to the “next place” of your WHOLE life.  But I am being purposed now to remind not only myself but you–that we are in the middle of the miracle we need! We are in it! It has already been waiting there all along.

It takes the detours of life to let us know, much like this woman at the well who was on her 6th bad relationship, that she didn’t need another man.

Those men were never going to be the source of her strength! But HE WAS!

That job is not the source of my strength –HE IS!

The money is not the source of my strength –HE IS!

That ministry is not the source of my strength –HE IS!

The kids are not the source of my strength –HE IS!

All the things we think are what we need to have our miracle, to have our success and victory is not the source. All of that waiting in the middle, we already have everything we need to sustain us.

The middle of our miracle is HIM! It has always been Him and it will always be. For the moment we find ourselves in the middle of our day, the middle of our journey, the middle of relationships, the middle of our miracle — always reaching to the thing that will never sustain us–it wont be long before we experience that less so that we find the most through God.

Being stripped of what we love is some serious stuff. But being stripped of the One that will always sustain us –is everything.

That middle –that center of everything –is the miracle. It is Jesus. The source of all things. The source of life. The source of companionship. The source of energy.  The source of strength. Give it all to Him as you are waiting in this moment and you find yourself in the middle just like me…

He is the way, the truth and life.

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
John 4:13-14

New Release: RISE Above Adversity

I am super excited to release my new book, “Rise Above Adversity: Where Declaration Becomes Destiny!” Available now through Amazon.

A bittersweet moment for me as this day was not an easy one. We always face adversity. We live through it and we dance in it. But what I am most proud of this particular piece is that it is a dedication to our entire family.

I invite you to celebrate with me and also into a very personal place within our family. It is natural for us to go through all these natural feelings but what we do find is that God gives us the power to rise through it in a supernatural way!

There is nothing ordinary about this story. Just pure adversity, time and time again. We learn to adjust the same way I know you can relate when you are forced to do life in a whole different way.

To the family and legacy of Pastor Tony Mendez.

My dear husband Juan Mendez.

My sweet sister-in-law Cristina Mendez.

And to the mom that raised these gladiators, we honor you Rev. Nelly Montalvo! ♥️

Whenever I am Afraid

David was afraid.  He prayed to God when he was afraid. Whenever he found himself in circumstances outside of his control–he confessed his trust and confidence in God and in His word.  Many of the Psalms were written in times of greatness. Times of victory, laughter and joy.   There are also many written in times of adversity.

David wrote this particular declaration in the book of Psalms–when the Philistines had seized him in Gath.  In the book of 1 Samuel Chapter 20, David was captured.  They made fun of him. So David had to pretend he was crazy in order to be released.  Only to find himself once again fleeing to the cave of Adullum.

Then David arose and fled that day from before Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. And the servants of Achish said to him, “Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of him to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands’?” Now David took these words to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. So he changed his behavior before them, pretended madness in their hands, scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard.
1 Samuel 20:10-13

David found himself immediately in the face of mockery, embarrassment, shame and disgrace after just coming out of a huge victory! The king of Gath ridiculed him… I can only hear his teasing tone in my head as I read “Isn’t this not David the king of the land that just slayed ten thousands…” Here he was captured in the hands of another king.

How mortifying this must have been for David in this moment.
This king attacked his identity, his victory and his destiny all at once.

“David the king of the land…”

“Once singing and dancing…”

“Has slain thousands and ten thousands…”

So that all his accomplishments and achievements can feel like a waste.  To make David feel like a fool and a failure! Isn’t that just how the enemy always works? All of that mockery, ridicule and shame are the gateways to fear.  David became very afraid.  Fearful of this man.  Fearful of those words.  Fearful of his future.  He panicked. He pretended to be something he was not only to escape.

Couldn’t he trust God then to protect him?

But just like you and I–as humans–we do become afraid sometimes when we are presented with vicious people that try to intimidate us! People or even circumstances that try to trip us up. Only because we DO have a powerful identity given by Christ! We HAVE amazing victories, celebrations and accomplishments. We ARE going to be and continue to walk in high callings that God has assigned to us.  So that everything we do–we have success! Because that is just the God we serve. He is the One we report to.

So I don’t know what you are facing today–I share with you now:

DO NOT BE AFRAID! You will win because you are already more than a conqueror.  That is why the enemy is fighting you so hard in such a fierce pursuit.

God has got you for sure! Remember who you are!

Today I invite you to meditate on His Word and never the mocking words of man.
For what can they do, when it is God who is always in control to lead you to an overwhelming victory!

Psalm 56
Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit;
all day long they press their attack.
My adversaries pursue me all day long;
in their pride many are attacking me.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in YOU!

In God, whose word I praise
in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?

All day long they twist my words; all their schemes for my ruin.
They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, hoping to take my life.
Because of their wickedness do not let them escape;
in your anger, God, bring the nations down.

Record my misery; list my tears on Your scroll
–are they not in Your record?
Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help.
By this I will know that God is for me.

In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise
–in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can man do to me?

I am under vows to You, my God;
I will present my thank offerings to You.
For You have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before God in the light of life.

For my sister Claudia Morales and the many that face adversity. ❤

Amen
