Good Rich Soil

imageThe last of the 4 grounds to sow on is good rich soil. If you haven’t caught up with this week’s theme of, “The Parable of the Sower” here are the links:

The Beaten Path

Gravel Ground

Among the Thorns

When there are many other grounds to sow seed on–the one that reaps the harvest and has that apparent overflow is the good rich soil. This brings the fruit …all the good fruit.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
Galatians 5:22-24 [English Standard Version]

Anything contrary to that, then we understand we are falling on one of the other three grounds. That could be handled, it is not difficult and it certainly isn’t impossible. 🙂 You can find a way to get to this ground. You just need to bring an open heart to God and allow Him to do the rest. Thorns Hurt

imageThe continuation of “The Parable of the Sower” in this writing is the seed sown among thorns.

First we read about the beaten path.

We then read about the gravel ground.

Now we will read about the thorns….

“Other seeds fell among thorns, so when the seeds sprouted so did the thorns, crowding out the young plants so that they could produce no grain.”
Mark 4:7 [The Passion Translation]

Verse 18 explains, “And the seed sown among thorns represents those who hear the Word, but they allow the cares of this life and the seduction of wealth and the desires of other things crowd out and CHOKE the Word so that it produces nothing.

Thorns hurt.

A thorn is a sharp excrescence on a plant, especially a sharp-point aborted branch; spine; prickle. It is something that wounds, annoys or causes discomfort.

A lot of times we think that things in our lives are okay to have around but that is not actually the case according to the word. It is only a matter of time in which we see that it produces nothing. Continue reading

Gravel Ground

imageThis week is a series of the Sunday sermon, “The Parable of the Scattering Seed.” Yesterday I wrote about the beaten path titled, “Shattered Places” and today’s writing is on the second type –the gravel ground.

Oh how important it is for us to get ourselves deeply rooted in the Word of God. It is not just flash prayers, not just weekly…monthly or annual church attendance. It is not just giving an offering. It is investing in you –deep roots of the infallible Word of the Living God Almighty. So that when the rain comes, we are able to stand strong. When the storm comes, we are going to survive it. When the clouds of darkness try to hover over us, we shine right through.

Other seeds fell onto gravel with no topsoil and the seeds quickly sprouted since the soil had no depth. But when the days grew hot, the sprouts were scorched and withered because they had insufficient roots.
Mark 4:5-6 [The Passion Translation]

By the time we get to verses 16-17 it explains, “The seed grown on gravel represents those who hear the word and receive it joyfully but because their hearts failed to sync a deep root in the Word, they don’t endure for long. For when trouble or persecution comes on account of the Word, they immediately wilt and fall away.”

Shattered Places

imageI gathered notes together for a Sunday sermon recollecting so many things God took me from. Places that many times left me shattered… Time and time again! There was no escaping.

I stood in that place of the beaten path. Beaten from life that was nothing but addiction, affliction, confliction and every other creation of my own world. This place left enough room for God to move the only way He could in a situation like that.

Break it…

Before it breaks her.

What once was “well put together” eventually became a huge dismantlement.  So I am left reflecting of that place. As much as I thought I was well, inside I was dying every day. Thank GOD He stepped in before I would have never returned. Continue reading
