“Confusion squeezes out wisdom for good decisions.” Mike Shea
We can spend a lot of time in a state of confusion depending on how much we take in from negative circumstances or things that try to take us off course from the original plan and purpose that God has for us. It makes us wonder, “What in the world is going on here?”
Confusion speaks to a state of disorder, upheaval, a lack of clearness or distinctness. A lot of this occurs in our minds, then it affects our actions and then causes us to make poor decisions. When we come to the knowledge of the truth through God’s word [Colossians 1:9] then all confusion, chaos, doubt and lies…. have no place.
The enemy has been confusing the people of God long enough and now it is time for us to rise up and confuse him! Here is how…
Let us review the story of Jehoshaphat when his army defeats Moab and Ammon. This is stated in 2 Chronicles 20:1-30. It is such a powerful story on how the Moabites, Ammonites and Meunites came to wage war against Jehoshaphat. The bible says this was a vast army. This was huge! Not a little issue for them. You are speaking of 3 against 1. They were frightened! As we would be too. Then the people of Judah decided to quickly gather together and seek the Lord! They prayed to God fervently for deliverance. They declared, “Power and might are in Your hand and no one can withstand You” in verse 6 and then stated in verse 9, “If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in Your presence before this temple that bears Your Name and will cry out to You in our distress and YOU WILL HEAR US AND SAVE US!”
This is a bold declaration to bring to God –YOU WILL HEAR US AND SAVE US! Yet at the same time, their human cry came forth too…they said in verse 12, “We do not know what to do, BUT our eyes are on You.”
That is what confusion does. It makes us not know what to do. Troubles come upon us and we get thrown off. Maybe you lose a job, your boss or coworkers drive you crazy at work, your loved one walks out on you, your kids causing chaos at home, your bills piling up…drama from all angles at once. Why? To bring that confusion. When confusion comes –we squeeze out the wisdom we need to make the best decisions. This is PRECISELY when we have to cry out to God. To hear us and save us.
These “things” we can note as leviathans–anything of immense size and power. The good news is that – God is GREATER and will do all that He can to display that greatness. We just have to make Him our go-to person…
He is Our Go-To-God!
We will experience in life that people are confusing. Relationships are confusing. Situations we face are confusing. But one thing we must not be confused about our promise. That is something clear. That should be our goal and our focus.
Don’t keep looking at what is out there distracting you, troubling you or surrounding you. God is BIGGER and BETTER. The best PLUS size of anything.
Go after your call. Pursue God’s will for your life. Fulfill your calling. Fulfill your duties. Don’t worry about the pace–just keep moving. As you are moving, you are doing something.
If you are in trouble…keep moving.
If you are in pain…keep moving.
If you are hurting…keep moving.
If you are bleeding…keep moving.
If you are under attack…keep moving.
If you are under pressure…keep moving.
As you are moving God is still working! The story of Jehoshaphat all the men of Judah, with their wives and children and just stood before the Lord. They prayed together, then sang songs of worship when they heard the Word of the Lord through the mouth of the prophet. God spoke in 2 Chronicles 20:18, “You will NOT have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah AND Jerusalem. Do NOT be afraid; do NOT be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow and the Lord will be with you.”
They fell down on their faces. They gave thanks to God through songs of praise! That is your key. Don’t let the enemy steal your praise, your worship, your joy or your peace! You know who God is…and that He is good. The enemy is NOT. Sometimes when you are at wits’ end that is all you can do… Fall down and worship. You surrender all of your being when you do this. This is the moment that you feel like you have nothing else left to give…yet you really have everything!
As the people begin to worship–the enemy gets confused. Just like the story here. When they heard the sound of the people praising in unison they got scared. They began to destroy and annihilate themselves. They got confused! This became their downfall. Don’t let that be you.
This is when you CONFUSE YOUR ENEMY!!! When that happened–they won the battle! Not one of their enemies survived. Not only that but the people of Judah and Jerusalem collected all the plunder so much so that it took three days to carry everything off. Now that is an ABUNDANT victory!
That is what God will do for us. So instead of us sitting around confused–we need to confuse our enemy. When situations rise up that seem impossible – just know that you serve a God that LOVES to make things possible on your behalf. Just go to Him. That is how you conquer confusion. That is how you conquer messy situations. Give them to God. When we feel the pressure of things it is because we are not deep enough in with God. When we don’t go to Him. When we try to handle everything on our own strength and terms.
WE ALL NEED GOD!
Go to Him. Sit with Him. Talk to Him. Cry out to Him. He hears it all and will save you from whatever trial you face that is causing the chaos. Sometimes we just need to wait IN God for the time to pass. He strengthens us as we wait. While we wait for that deliverance…praise Him in the interim. That will confuse anyone or anything that tries to get in your way. When people try to take you off course–just keep smiling, dancing, singing and shouting. God’s got this. For when your victory comes – it will be in ABUNDANCE just like the people of God took three days to carry all their valuables. The same way you are going to have such of a reward when your day of victory comes too! Believe that!
