When I Can’t Hear Anything Else

imageSometimes I can’t hear anything else. I am limited to the things I can receive or take in. My mind becomes so cluttered with thoughts. That’s a writers world for me defined. So many words. Words in books. Words in songs. Words of others. Words of the wise.

The words that stand out the most in a time like this are the words in His Word. They are better than anything else. So that nothing else won’t weigh me down. For there are so many thoughts.

Rest assured that His Word is sovereign. I hope in His word. I feed off His word and now my whole life must live by it… keep leading the way.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12

The words of God are alive! The words of God are the most powerful. The words of God are sharp–they cut to the heart. The words of God are like the sharpest sword that can cut on each side…any way you turn it will make a mark. That is how powerful the word of the Lord is as our sword.

A sword is a weapon having various forms but consisting typically of a long, straight or slightly curved blade, sharp-edged on one or both sides, with one end pointed and the other fixed in a hilt or handle; this is a weapon as a symbol of military power, punitive justice, authority, etc. A sword can cause death or destruction. With God’s Word we can KILL the plans of the enemy. With the Words of God, we can cancel out the lies of the enemy. With the Words of God, we can have power over the negative thoughts that try to infiltrate our mind. With the Words of God, we can use it as our weapon and have authority over any thing that tries to rise up against us.

This is pure power. As Ephesians 6 breaks down the “Weapons of Warfare,” the Word is listed again as our shield and sword. “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;” Ephesians 6: 14-17

The Word covers and protects us. So shall it be to cover our thoughts that try to run rampant. We use the Word to cut through all of that. Daily. It is vital. There are many that neglect the Word. My flesh wants to neglect it too! That is truth. But I have to train myself. This is what is most important, even more than all that I write as encouragement. His Word comes first and foremost. We lose battles in our mind when we are not putting His Word first. We lose when we are not using this as our source of strength, power, justice and authority.

The Word is able to penetrate even the darkest places. It is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The Word has the ability to discern our thoughts and intentions. It brings correction, guidance and life. The Word will govern our every step. We live by it. We win by it. We are free by it. We are changed by it. We become who Christ says that we are through this Word. If we fail to use this as our daily source then we shall quickly see the results of that.

I love when I get to hear the testimonies of what happens when we choose His Word. We need more good news like this! We need to know WHO WE ARE. I don’t want to hear anything else. None of the negative things that try to run through our mind shall prevail when we look to His Word! Don’t hear anything else that is contrary. Starve the thoughts and things that don’t align with His Word. Keep feeding on His Word. Keep growing in His Word. Search the scriptures daily. Make it a part of your life long journey. And if you haven’t tried it now…this is probably the best time to start.

This is good.

This is real.

This is truth.

This is life.

This is for me.

“How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”
~Psalm 119:103

“More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.”
~Psalm 19:10
