You Know What It’s Like

Since He himself has gone through suffering and testing,
He is able to help us when we are being tested.
Hebrews 2:18 NLT

It is a common road for us all. Even Jesus was the black sheep, so He knows what it’s like. In Isaiah 53, we read a heavy description of what He faced. As we press through the pages of scripture, we can familiarize ourselves with this and identify such pain, sorrow and grief. We identify ourself through the Word. Not just Him identifying Himself with us, but we can now identify with HIM and grasp that He really knows what it is like to be US!

You know what it’s like to face temptations.
You know what it’s like to be tired, hungry and thirsty.
You know what it’s like to be poor.
You know what it’s like when people constantly want your attention.
You know what it’s like to have demands and pressures.
You know what it’s like to be misunderstood or mistreated.
You know what it’s like when people tell lies about you.
You know what it’s like when people mock you (or talk about you).
You know what it’s like to be surrounded by evildoers.
You know what it’s like to lose a loved one.
You know what it’s like to suffer,  to face death or be in prison. You know what it’s like to be human.
You identify with me. You intercede on my behalf.

I would further like to state on my own reflection as a “piggy back” to the reading of Twila Belk… of how much “He Gets It.”

You know what it’s like to feel frustration.
You know what it’s like to feel anger.
You know what it’s like to want to scream at the top of your lungs.
You know what it’s like to want to run away from your surroundings.
You know what it’s like to be fatigued.
You know what it’s like to be sick.
You know what it’s like to fight through thoughts.
You even know what it’s like to fight through insecurity.
You know what it’s like to have some believe in you and others that don’t.
You know what it’s like to have some follow you and others abandon you.
You know what it’s like to have some listen to you and others reject you.
You know what it’s like to have sleepless nights and fight through anguish.
You know what it’s like to be busy, bogged down and in some form of a battleground.
You know what it’s like to surrender your will for His!
You know what it’s like to be us.
You know what it’s like to be me.

Thank you God because when I see myself as the black sheep, I have to remember that you were the blackest sheep of them all. I thank God for Your word, for You always reveal it to me during the times that I need it the most.

“We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 53:6 (New International Version)
