What does it mean to have an exploding mind? To explode is to expand with some force, so as it relates to the mind it is thinking outside of the box thinking and beyond limitations. We take every thought into captivity. Do we have power over our own thoughts? Well if no one else could control them or help you then that must mean that only YOU could do that.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”
II Corinthians 10:4-6 NKJV
Every THOUGHT into captivity!
Capture the rebellious thoughts!
While others thought meanly, and spake scornfully of the apostle, he had low thoughts, and spake humbly of himself. We should be aware of our own infirmities, and think humbly of ourselves, even when men reproach us. The work of the ministry is a spiritual warfare with spiritual enemies, and for spiritual purposes. Outward force is not the method of the gospel, but strong persuasions, by the power of truth and the meekness of wisdom. Conscience is accountable to God only; and people must be persuaded to God and their duty, not driven by force. Thus the weapons of our warfare are very powerful; the evidence of truth is convincing. What opposition is made against the gospel, by the powers of sin and Satan in the hearts of men! But observe the conquest the word of God gains. The appointed means, however feeble they appear to some, will be mighty through God. And the preaching of the cross, by men of faith and prayer, has always been fatal to idolatry, impiety, and wickedness.
2 Corinthians 10:1-6 [Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary]
There is a process of reasoning that occurs.
In a mind that swirls daily with about 70,000 thoughts per day, it is important that we work at building a better mind. We use this food for fuel concept by making the correct deposits. As the thoughts are accumulating, we sift through the process of eliminating toxic thoughts, cluttered thoughts or disturbing thoughts.
Imagine the thoughts of the man that was cutting himself in the mountains. He was so tormented that he lost touch with reality and began inflicting pain upon himself. That is what we do when we don’t get the help that we need. We are actually in a place whether it is inwardly, physically or socially –we inflict pain upon ourselves.
This is what we would call a STRONGHOLD! We can overcome those. A stronghold can represent a place or a particular cause or belief that is strongly defended or upheld. That is how powerful your thoughts are. Who can convince you? Change you? Or how can you validate those thoughts against truth? For so long we toy and entertain these lies or misconceptions in our mind.
An excerpt from Mike Shea, “Serenity Devotional” states the following:
A stronghold is present when the same negative thought keeps rearing its ugly head. The enemy will use what’s worked against you to keep you in slavery. The liar’s goal is to get you to hate yourself. Thoughts like I must be bad, look at all the bad things I’ve done or I have no hope plague you. Fear assaults trust and rest; addiction affects areas of love; rejection comes as unworthiness; confusion attacks decision making; and witchcraft feeds power and control. You don’t have to fight alone. God’s divine power smashes strongholds, and provides the sufficient grace to withstand any enemy attack. The truth is you’re an adopted child of the Most High God. When you desire to do what’s right, and end up doing the very thing you hate, you wonder who will free you from addiction. The answer is Jesus Christ.
And so Jesus healed that man and set him in the right place.
“Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.”
Mark 5:15 NKJV
We fight against this with our spiritual tools. We renew the mind through the Bible as God’s way to a total transformation. When you read, meditate upon, and apply God’s word in your daily life, you are changed from the inside out.
“Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes.”
Song of Solomon 2:15 NKJV
We have to catch those foxes that spoil the vine. All those thoughts that creep in and try to disturb our peace we have the agility, ability and the power to control them.
Agility and ability to organize mentally.
- the power of moving quickly and easily;
- the ability to think and draw conclusions quickly; intellectual acuity.
Stress and anxiety choke off our agility.
- Physiology. a specific response by the body to a stimulus, as fear or pain, that disturbs or interferes with the normal physiological equilibrium of an organism. TAKES US OFF BALANCE
- physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension: (Worry over his job and his wife’s health put him under a great stress.). Synonyms: anxiety, burden, pressure, oppression; effort, exertion, struggle, strain.
- distress or uneasiness of mind caused by fear of danger or misfortune
We need to be sharp thinkers and under stress we CANNOT THINK CLEARLY!!!! And we should never make a critical decision during stress, wait until you are calm. The best thinkers become the best leaders. They are pioneers and most excellent at problem solving.
These things can be TAUGHT, and applied. We must get comfortable with the power of the position God wants to bring you to… Mental stability. Everything is IN CHRIST! He empowers you mentally, spiritually and physically. He prepares you and pulls you through to keep exercising control, authority, decision making and constant improvement where it is necessary.
Make it a plan!
How do you plan to mentally progress?
Don’t lose your sleep, peace and agility any longer. Invest in your mind: spiritual, emotional and psychological.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.”
Romans 8:5-7 NKJV“Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.”
1 Peter 1:13 NIV“So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.”
1 Peter 1:13 NLT
