You never realize how much of a backbone someone could be until you lose it. The natural things that occur bring upon the darkest grief, upset, frustration, sadness, anger and the like. Then the next natural will arise
where you will see the fearless move mountains in the midst of fear.
We are afraid. We don’t know how it is going to be now or where it is going to go.
Can I be honest? Or maybe I’m not the only one. Could I have been there more YES but I was not. No excuses follow that statement.
Did she love me any less? NO she did not. She loved me with no conditions except a phone call. Many lasted less than minutes, sometimes they extended. Yet a word of advice she gave me… that I would never forget.
If I could ever run away, I would go to grams house. I think everyone ran to grandma in times of trouble, she was a safe house. But this one particular time I just needed her QUICK! A conversation that only I could know all to well. I shared with her my trauma, my turmoil and my trouble. I didn’t know how things could improve. She said to me, “You better find a way to work this out because he is a good man and your not going to find that easily.” She truly walked me out my mess to remind me the value of family…. And look at us now.
Our life wasn’t easy but certainly possible to get through. I thank God for her life. For how impacting that she was. I want to be like her. I hope I can accomplish something common. We leaned on her for wisdom, strength and courage when we felt weak. She was fearless in every way.
To the oldest and the youngest, there are two… Lucie and Anthony. Both two powerful people that work together in unity! You both have exhibited strength, character and virtue. Your support is undeniable. Your love for her and this family is such a demonstration of excellence and leadership.
You wiped her *** and cleaned up her **** when no one else would. You fed, washed, clothed and kept her. You sacrificed many months of terror and were present through the good times and bad. Thank you for filling in the gap spiritually, physically, emotionally, financially and DRASTICALLY.
I am a pastor of people. To bring them together for a common goal. You both mirror that. You are just like pastors that cover our family. To care for us and do the same. Can I challenge you this? That you would continue to bring this family TOGETHER at all costs. It is what she would have wanted.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to even share the simplest thing on such a monumental day. I appreciate that. But most importantly is this…Today I got an opportunity to still see hope, joy, faith, love and laughter. It was a beautiful thing despite our tragic loss.
Her legacy continues.
Through us.
Maria Bazan–your seeds of virtue were deeply planted in us all. What an honor and life to celebrate. So I close with this passage of scripture for you. We love you–Always and Forever, Mom, Grandma, Sister and Friend. ❤
Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands.
She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar.
She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants.
She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms.
She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night.
She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet.
She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants.
Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.
She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.”
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.
