I prefer the one with ‘Love’ in the middle because I think it is the center of everything. Everyone wants love. Love aside from several other emotions is one of the strongest. An article from Livestrong.com states 7 of the strongest and lists LOVE for last. They are Joy, Anger, Anxiety, Surprise, Trust, Grief, Fear and Love.
Why Do We Feel?
Psychologists believe human emotions are a function of evolution that have enabled us to solve problems, protect ourselves and our families, survive desperate circumstances and procreate. The “fight or flight” response to immediate danger is one of many examples of how emotion prepares us and protects us. The role of emotion in everyday life also influences the way we learn, set goals, communicate with one another, rank daily tasks and how we perceive ourselves as individuals.
The degree to which we “feel” an emotion can lead to a mind-body experience as well. A person who wets himself when faced with extreme fear is an example of this “mind-body” connection between emotion and physiological response. Modern psychologists can identify dozens of emotions experienced by humans, however there are seven that are considered the “root” emotions.
As this paragraph says, how influential these emotions can be. Love is very influential. It changes us, it moves us and it keeps us alive. This is also the emotion that often causes the most pain. This quote is often used that we should live well, laugh often and love much. But when we love much we take a huge risk at being vulnerable. We then experience a ricochet effect of emotions when the love is lost. We experience pain, grief, discomfort, sadness, sickness, depression, anger, fear, anxiety… all the other things that tear at our entire being.
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
He teaches us to live with Him. “He restores our soul, He leads us in the path of righteousness for His names sake.” Psalm 23:3
Another wrote – How can I laugh when the tears won’t stop… Well they won’t last forever. I once asked this question too… Why do I keep on crying? The response was, “Tears can be a cleansing of the soul.” So I kept crying until they stopped. Most times this is a huge part of a healing process. They do stop. This doesn’t mean that they never come back but that there will be a time for this in life.
There is a time for everything. “A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance.” Ecclesiastes 3:4
“For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5
“Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” Psalm 126:2
Another wrote – How can I love when my heart has been ripped from my chest…This isn’t actually the case. It just feels that way. It just feels a whole lot painful when love seems lost. Thank God that He also has something new for us.
“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.” Ezekiel 36:26-28
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
There is a love that will always remain. That is certainly the love of God and the love of many that are placed before you in a lifetime. We will experience that love in many ways. Sometimes it will be amazing, sometimes passionate, sometimes protective and other times it will be painful. But love will be experienced in the highest capacity and complete us when it is filled in by the One who is the Maker of all. Don’t allow past experiences to determine how you love now. Love doesn’t change. Love doesn’t fail. God is love.
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love!“ 1 John 4:8
And so it is possible to experience a love that will not cease. It is possible to find a love on this earth that brings us close to the One who made it. There are so many people we can love and love unconditionally. With no boundaries or exceptions to the rule. We can learn to love our family more and to appreciate the things He has placed in our lives. Pray for all these things and that God will lead you to the people you need to love. Ask Him for love within your family, for amazing friends and for a place to fellowship inside a wholesome spirit-filled church where you can grow. Sometimes you don’t need to go that far. When you come to see–it is already nearby you.
Live the life that God gave you. Find the joy and the peace that you need to be free through Christ.
Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. He will lead you to know what real love is.
Laugh in your life. Learn to find the things that bring you a true sense of happiness and joy. Have fun!
For with God all things are possible. How much more can we find a life worth living, a love that was worth Christ dying and a laugh that makes us whole again.
