Have you ever experienced some sort of a relapse? You had wonderful progress and then whoops, there we go again…the pitfall. If it could be that simple then what is the answer.
JUST START AGAIN!
A relapse is a fall or slip back into a former state or practice. It could be in anything – where you relapse in some state or previous practice. It could be a mental relapse, an emotional relapse, a relapse into alcohol, drugs, addiction or ill practice. Whatever it is…there is HOPE in God. Recovery is possible! You just have to keep on. When you slip or fall –don’t feed it– just start again.
“For a righteous man may fall seven times
And rise again
but the wicked shall fall by calamity.”
Proverbs 24:16
The bible tells us that righteous people will fall, but they get back up. They start again. It doesn’t matter how many times or in which ways but that we get back up and just start again. Try doing it right again. Feed your faith, your spirit, your mind and your soul. Don’t condemn yourself for slipping. At least you recognize the slipping! That is what righteous people do…they know right from wrong and wicked people do not know the difference.
Apostle Paul battled with the same struggles we do, that is why this is included in the scriptures to remind us the sole purpose of Jesus Christ.
“O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!” Romans 7:24-25
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1
So we can’t beat ourselves up if we spiral down a road that makes us step back. God is the one that will deliver us! He is the One that will always lift us UP and OUT of any pit as long as we call out to Him.
You see for many of us, our battle is silent. We put on a good smile. We get so used to saying everything is okay. But we need to recognize when we need that support system. So that we get stronger.
I am not afraid to ask for help. I feel like there are times where I do struggle with my own silent battle! I get on this good strong streak and then WHAM! The enemy suddenly hits me and attacks my mind. I get reminded of my past failures or everything else that would bring my soul down to the pit. It can come in any form, through a dream, through a situation or through others. Then I start to feed it a bit and then begin to wallow further. UGH! Here we go again. Thank God He is with me through this all.
There goes the “RE’s” behind the relapse okay… I just RESTART! I have to start again, a new start and a new beginning. I have to REFOCUS! Adjust and move slightly into alignment the focus that God put in me. I have to REFRESH! God will provide me a new vigor and a new energy, when I REST in Him. When I take in the right spiritual food that I require DAILY. He will make fresh again and reinvigorate my mind. He will fill my life with the energy and faith I need to move ahead from any slump. God will take the natural and bring me to that supernatural place where I can experience an “above and beyond” type of victory!
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”
Lamentations 3:22-24
I want that ‘unexplainable by natural law’ to happen in my life…when folks think, “Oh she should have been lost her mind, she should have been lost it all, she should have been fallen and forgotten!” But I am kept by the One who has my back. He is my source of strength indeed.

I sent a message to a dear friend and told her about my struggle. She sent me this strong quote below. How true this is. MJ you are such an ENCOURAGER!!!
I know that I am not alone in this. I cannot be distracted. Even if it looks like it is just me. I am going to restart, refocus and refresh myself. These are all the things I have to feed my faith with now. All else must starve!
This is a life lesson for us all. When you get thrown into a pit, there is no easy way out. BUT there is a way out
and it is up above. You cannot get out of the pit yourself. You need to be pulled out! Rescued and delivered. Thank God, He is right there at the pit. Always ready to PULL YOU OUT! He will send the help. He will come to your aide.
“He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.”
Psalm 40:2
So just call out to Him and not man. For it is God that will pull you from the pit. He is ready to help you every single time…He helps you to just start again.
