I don’t exactly know what the problem is, else call it an addiction.
Addiction: the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.
What is your addiction? What is calling you back? What is constantly waging war against your soul and entire being?
So many forms when no one else sees…a force so strong…to fight EVERY single day!
How do we get back to life when we think that one thing will do it all?
It’s just one reach away. To step into a swirl of the forbidden. The thing you feel will bring the life, dull the pain and heal the wound.
In one moment –
It is taking another shot of that vodka.
It is taking another drag of that smoke.
It is taking another one of those pills.
It is taking another sting of that needle.
It is being naked in that room.
It is feeling the colored blade mark the tat.
It is feeling the razor cut the skin.
It is reaching out to that someone “special”.
It is going back to that bad relationship.
It is placing another bet at that casino.
It is going back to that store to spend money.
For addiction comes in many forms –do not be deceived. If you struggle to break it or break through it then it IS an addiction! It is like you can’t even function without it. You don’t know how to cope, what to do, where to go or what to say. But I am here to tell you today that there is a way!
There is a way beyond all of this. Free from addiction. Free from habit-forming destruction. Free from enslavement. Free from bondage. The way to be free is through HIM! He is the One that will set us free–we just got to give THIS to Him….every day!
Jesus said, “I tell you most solemnly that anyone who chooses a life of sin is trapped in a dead-end life and is, in fact, a slave. A slave is a transient, who can’t come and go at will. The Son, though, has an established position, the run of the house. So if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through.”
John 8:34-36 (MSG)
He is the One that will bring you back to life – a life through Him. A life through prayer. A life through His word. A life of worship. A life of truth. He has all of that–a natural and lasting high if you stick with it. The same way you reached out for other things now is the time to reach out to the King of kings!!! BREAK OFF THE ADDICTION! BREAK PAST IT THROUGH HIS WORD! BREAK PAST IT THROUGH THE POWER OF HIS PRESENCE AND THROUGH THE POWER OF HIS REDEMPTION!
BREAK
BREAK
BREAK
Be consistent at Him and lose the consistency of the addiction.
“So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.”
~Galatians 6:9-10 (MSG)
It is not hard to break if you use the BEST SOURCE! The best help, the best support, the best gift that was given to us in order to be free and live in abundance.
“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
Glory to God in the church!
Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!
Glory down all the generations!
Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!”
~Ephesians 3: 20-21 (MSG)
That one thing that you think will bring you back to life in the moment you reach for it is not the habit…it is not the thing…it is not the drug, it is not the drag, it is neither the alcohol or the boy next store! It is simply the One that was meant to fill every void.
Everyone has an addiction in some way, shape or form. I have plenty of my own and I bring it before my KING! When I feel the onset of the battle coming upon me – I reach, I stretch… not for the thing but for the King and He ALWAYS takes me through it!
Exchange that reach. Stretch your faith. Go reach for Him… it will bring you back to the best LIFE ever…it’s everlasting life!
Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
~John 4:13-14 (NKJV)
