Fasting Fear

imageWhenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
Psalm 56:3

I feel afraid. I hate that feeling. It is a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.

It just comes and goes. I feel afraid. I don’t want to relapse into a world of darkness. I feel afraid. Am I prone to wander or prone to relapse? I don’t want to feel afraid. But I won’t be human if I did not feel that. The feeling WILL come. Just like the psalmist wrote… whenever this feeling comes…I will TRUST IN YOU!

I don’t ever want to go back. The darkest place in my life was too dark. An abyss of pain and turmoil. So dark that it destroyed. Not in a quick way but in a slow suffocation.. There was no room to breathe. That made me afraid.

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Isaiah 41:10

In God I have put my trust; will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Psalm 56:11

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6

I will not remain in fear. October we enter into a month of fasting for our church. I will be fasting a lot of things personally as I take the time to reflect. For I will also be fasting fear! To rid of this emotion that tries to rise up. I am not hesitant to share this either. It happens to all of us. To the greatest and the weakest. We all get approached with this distressing emotion. We have to cast it down quickly.

If you are not afraid and have conquered this…GREAT! For this message is for those that still battle with fear today. There is a way. We put our trust in HIM! Every single time that this tries to rise up…we put our trust in Him.

He won’t leave us.

He won’t forsake us.

He will uphold us.

He will fight for us.

I feel better already just typing those words. Don’t be afraid also to seek help during these times for you are not alone. Reach out to God, reach out to His Word and reach out to FAITH-FILLED-FOLKS! For the Holy Spirit will guide us through all of this. We have a Helper! And the Helper does this…

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 14:26

He will help us in all things and when fear tries to rise up He will bring good things to our remembrance. We are PROTECTED IN HIS PRESENCE. We must remain there. We must abide in His presence…DAY and NIGHT because the enemy is seeking whom he may devour [1 Peter 5:8] and we cannot let that be us. We are not up for appetizers on the enemy’s menu AT ALL! Unfortunately he will have to STARVE!!! We cannot feed fear…we must feed our faith as we fast…especially with the Word of God for there are many reminders of God’s saving strength even in this.

But I will deliver you in that day,” says the Lord, “and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.
Jeremiah 39:17

He promises that HE WILL DELIVER us always… from anything or anyone. He says He has this! He says, “Excuse me… BUT if you recall my STRENGTH is going to be PERFECTED [AMEN] in your weakness [2 Corinthians 12:9]”. So if the weakness is fear, just know God is stronger than THAT! Keep focused on this word are your constant reminder.

Just as we came from a “Cast Your Care” Conference, so quickly will things rise up to give us something to CAST! Cast this care unto Him… fast fear forever!

It shall not reign in THIS house [your temple]. Remove it from your mind with the Word of God. Read these scriptures about fear being conquered! Paste them on the wall. Write them in your journal. Put them as a screensaver on your phone, computer and other devices. For the enemy’s devices will never prevail against the faith filled servant that is fasting fear.

Feed the faith and it will starve all fear. For fasting is not about starving just food…it is about starving ANYTHING that distracts you in the place where you need to get closer to God.
