All The Do’s and Don’ts

imageWouldn’t it be nice if we had a sign like this on us to advise certain folks in our lives. But ours would read something like this:

“DO NO USE!
I AM OUT OF SERVICE!
God is aware of my situation and making the necessary repairs and I will be available as soon as possible. We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”

As the bible shares with us not to conform to the things of this world, since we have come over to Christ we are in a process of renewal. And there are plenty of “do’s and don’ts” to help us succeed in this effort.

Do Not Conform

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2

“You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.”
1 Corinthians 7:23

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.”
Colossians 3:23

This is just a few references of do’s and don’ts. This is never to keep you bound by not doing things, but to protect you from engaging in certain things that are may not be good or wholesome for you. God gives us the guidance we need to excel in life. He shows us the key for prosperous and healthy homes; for abundant living; for peace, joy and victory! He shows us the way to wholeness and to sustain it.

“I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭40:8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

In order for us to start flourishing in our “repair” status then we have to put the law of God in our heart. There will be a lot of changes that need to take place. There will be dissembling and dismantling of old parts in an effort to reassemble with new improved parts!

This is called progress and growth.

There will be moments where you may want to react a certain way or do old things but you have to have that mindset, “DO NOT USE!” You will have to tell people, “I am unavailable for that lifestyle.” You will have to make it known in you and in others that the old you has been broken and now up for repair! God is handling your situation with the best precautions! He has your best interest at heart and a divine purpose to fulfill. You just have to welcome and embrace that maintenance that is happening DAILY!

You are going to have to get bold with yourself and be reminded that you are under construction! You will have to tell people openly that you don’t roll that way anymore! You can’t dance at every party! You can’t have that extra drink! You can’t go out with that person anymore that wants to take advantage of you! Whatever God freed you from you need to stay CLEARED from! We can’t keep running into a burning building if we KNOW it will harm us.

“For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God takes us through the process. He doesn’t do it all for us but He gives us the strength to continue. The more that we allow and give to Him in a TOTAL surrender, the more improvements we will see in our lives. But if we give Him half, or hold back then we cannot expect a full recovery in the new life. And we can’t play in two places entertaining the things that God delivered us from. There is no time for that, especially when we are aware of weaknesses in us. We have to admit WHERE we need God and to help us in this maintenance! He will lead you in ALL things!

When help is necessary… SEEK THAT! Enroll! Check in! Sign up! And begin all the programs that it is going to take for your process improvement! You will soon find that you are not alone. That there is a way to experience the good and that it can be effective!

It is not something to be shameful of, embarrassed or humiliated by. It is actually a COURAGEOUS and honorable act to seek out help for a better you! It is okay to RECOGNIZE AND ADMIT where help is required. If we never needed saving God wouldn’t have sent a Saviour! But we ALL needed saving.

You are in a process and that process is for real improvement. It is not going to be all easy peasy but it will be possible when you put it in the hands of the One that will NEVER steer you wrong. He will show you what to do, where to go, and what to say. He will teach you all these things. And when you are ready, even if you stumble, He will pick you up and you just keep trying again.

Psalm 119 is a great recipe for instilling the fundamentals of a disciplined way of living God’s word.

Keep moving forward!

You are on your way to achieve GREAT things, just don’t let any hindrances throw you off! Put up that sign that says, “God is maintaining me!” Sometimes we will have to become unavailable for many so that we are available to the work of God. As the parts are all put in place, then He will send you out the correct way! He is the master builder, always doing His BEST!
