Airplane Mode

imageSome days I wake up more tired than other days. I don’t know what’s going on with me but I do know that I’m just so exhausted a lot of times. I have to take the time to go on airplane mode from everything that I could. It is actually very liberating.

I wish I can go on airplane mode more often. I can get so overwhelmed and disoriented that I desperately need that break. I need to have those rest periods for longer but I recognize the responsibilities that I have too.

I am appreciative of the airplane mode feature though. For in those chaotic moments, I can open up my settings and slide to GREEN! I am going green on my screen. This world is so heavily engulfed in the technology of smart phones that we actually become so desensitized to reality in front of us. We exchange what’s “smart” for things that are so foolish.

Airplane mode is a great feature available on all smart phone devices. I am an apple owner–so under the settings, it is the first option that appears! Great! Now your cellular connection, Wi-fi and blootooth are instantly disabled. No connection at all. The value and liveliness of your phone has drastically decreased! You can listen to music and use applications that are available offline but all other social notifications, text messages, phone calls and updates have ceased!

Freedom reigns!

Now you can relax and take that time off to rejuvenate. I think this is a main reason why I use paper books instead of e-books because I will have less interruptions. This makes my study time a lot more effective and enriching. Hitting that airplane mode is that dead stop. People think you have fallen off the planet. They can’t contact you in any way, shape or form.

It’s okay! You’ll be back….  🙂

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”
Psalm 62:1-2

There is a story in the bible about Martha and Mary [Luke 10:38-42]. Such a common used passage for the analogy of the busy person and the one that knows how to rest at the feet of Jesus. Our time with God is so critical. It keeps us strong.

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31

I always find myself needing to draw on His strength. I wake, work, I’m a wife, mom, work at church, home, gym…it is neverending. I get tired. When I am in that repetive schedule, I feel like I am in some fog trying to find a clear pathway out.

I need my rest. I don’t feel guilty about that either. Airplane mode it is! It makes me more effective in everything that I do. Else, I will be so drained and running on fumes. Eventually I will crash and I don’t want to be like that house where great was its fall [Matthew 7]. I need my foundation strong!

“Let us therefore strive to enter that rest,
so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.”
Hebrews 4:9-11

God wants you to rest! He is calling you to REST! He needs you very well rested so that you function better. That it will be easier for you to demonstrate good fruit all throughout the day and within your relationships. Your sphere matters. But an irritated and unrested you is not going to be able to provide for others in a spirit of willingness and gentleness.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:28

So if you haven’t done so already. Walk away. Take a break. Go on airplane mode. Leave your phone at home. Don’t allow the demands of people and technology to drain the very life out of you. It’s more than okay…according to the God that we serve. All that will be there when you get back. You’ll just be able to handle it better now that you are refreshed.

REST in that airplane mode when you need it so that you can truly be blessed. ❤

With Love,
Christina
