“Jesus came down the mountain with the cheers of the crowd still ringing in his ears. Then a leper appeared and went to his knees before Jesus, praying, “Master, if you want to, you can heal my body.” Jesus reached out and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be clean.” Then and there, all signs of the leprosy were gone. Jesus said, “Don’t talk about this all over town. Just quietly present your healed body to the priest, along with the appropriate expressions of thanks to God. Your cleansed and grateful life, not your words, will bear witness to what I have done.””
Matthew 8:1-4 MSG
I’m sitting with my husband on this Saturday afternoon and I asked him, “Why do you think that Jesus told the leper not to say anything about the healing?”
He responded, “Because that would limit him in the town that he was ministering in…”
Then I come to read further that Jesus said, “Let your cleansed life be the testimony!”
Could be both answers. In other words actions speak louder than words. He wants our cleansed, healed life to do all the talking! We could do all the jibber-jabber in the world but it’s the cleansed life that speaks louder. It’s us living out the new clean and healed life that makes the difference. That’s a witness.
See many don’t believe easily. Even the way this man responded so nonchalantly…. “Well IF YOU WANT to…. Sure.”
He wants to! Always! There is no question about that. God wants to do the work in us. He wants to heal us, clean us and set us free. But many times we live like we don’t want it. We choose every other thing contrary to the cleansing. This man could have easily gotten himself dirty again.
How many times do we get ourselves back in that rut.
If He wants to do it…. Then we should want it to. It is what’s best.
Do you trust that?
Do you want that?
Let’s make that step to let that cleansing testify for us. The cleansing in my life is getting me blessed. The cleansing in my life is giving me peace. The cleansing in my life is overflowing to our family. The cleansing in my life is expanding my ministry. The cleansing in my life is promoting me.
The blessing of the Lord sure makes one rich…. Yes RICH in every way.
“The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.”
Proverbs 10:22 [New Living Translation]
When we do things ourselves….there is sorrow with it, confusion, turmoil and the like.
When GOD does it… There is NOT ONE OUNCE OF SORROW!
All things are good.
All things are new.
All things are blessed under the covering, cleansing and healing of God.
Just because He said so, that’s why.
He wants to because He loves us!
Are you willing too?
