“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolation he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
Psalm 46:1-11 NIV
We preach awakening in the midst of desolation.
Shortness of breath.
Another dark night and a weary morning.
Come to find that it is raining again. The storm continues.
In the midst of that mess and a life to step into all becomes forced smiles and meaningless chatter.
Traffic again. Can’t really think clearly. Losing the way to articulate thoughts. Practicing the art of waiting patently in the traffic.
More delays… nothing but stop and go.
Stop and go.
STOP and go.
Progress and no progress. Progress then no progress. We hate traffic. Who likes it? It is annoying, frustrating and the cause of many accidents from the impatience.
If you try to move in a lane that appears to be moving faster than yours, you quickly try to move over. Then that lane stops and the one you left now moves. It becomes a sick cycle when you try to race in each lane. All creating further frustration and anguish when you try to find your own way that makes sense out of the mess.
We need to learn how to stay in our lane and accept the pace it is going.
Even walking in the crowded and busy streets of New York City. People are not looking where they are going. They crash into you, push, shove and get upset.
Wish everything was smooth sailing! Not always the case. Traffic is always going to be somewhere. There are always going to be delays. Even by others holding you up with the flashed green light and they still don’t move. There should be a 100 lanes!
Guess we all gotta go this similar route, different lane but limited lanes. We need a solution. Solace. Remedy. A huge male authoritative voice guiding us, calming us and providing better direction.
There is one… He said, “Be still and know that I am God!”
Of course. I have to be still because there is no other way to get there but wait.
Traffic doesn’t mean you are never going to get there, it just means that you are going to be seriously delayed.
It is what you do while you wait.
This is our life. Waiting for the miracle, the promise and the better days.
We are trying to find that place of peace. Be still in that delayed December. We’ll get there somehow, someway.
Listen to this song while you wait and worship Him.
