Celebrate With Someone

Rejoice1Time to Celebrate! Let us rejoice in the Lord! When? Always! Easier said than done, especially when you are put to the test. But the real test is if you are able to celebrate and rejoice with others when you know something is not happening with you. When someone else is celebrating their victory, can you feel and show great delight for them? Hope For A Tree

hope“At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail. Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant. But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more. As the water of a lake dries up or a riverbed becomes parched and dry, so he lies down and does not rise; till the heavens are no more, people will not awake or be roused from their sleep. If only you would hide me in the grave and conceal me till your anger has passed! If only you would set me a time and then remember me! If someone dies, will they live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait for my renewal to come.” Job 14:7-14 Continue reading

Will You Leave Your Net?

sunriseThere was a man well advanced in years that got up every morning to go to work. He was getting a bit frustrated with doing the same thing every single day.  Very tedious work, long hours and not much productivity. He was clothed in majesty and filled with glory.  The initial greeting went something like this, “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” [Matthew 4:19] The book then states in the next verse, “Immediately they left their nets and followed him.” They jump up! With no questions, no answers, no blueprints or plans and just walk with a complete stranger into a whole new life. Continue reading

The Word Covers You

original rainJune finally arrives. Yay! Here in New York, summer is drawing near. Time for shorts and sandals. Well, I think that nature got mad at us for going to the basement and packing up all our sweaters. Nature said, “AHA! You thought I left huh?” So we get hit with another cold front. Now we are on the run for cover. I think about how we always have to be prepared and carry an umbrella. It should always be somewhere close by and easy to access. The umbrella is our covering. It is our shield and protection against this ever-changing weather. We also have to make sure we have extra sweaters on standby that can quickly cover us. How much more shall we make adequate protection for our souls? The Word of God reminds us to always be sober and watchful. Continue reading
