I See The Change

image
This is for Mobbie! Yes, that is for my mom. For those that have them still or if they have gone to be with the Lord, I would like to reflect on “mommyhood”.

She is the yarn mom, always working some how and some way. God bless her and all those mommies that make a difference.

She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Proverbs 31: 13-31

Fasting Fury

imageHow furious this world is demonstrating unrestrained or violent anger, rage, passion, or the like; violence; vehemence; fierceness and wrath are plundering through the nations.

In a time of our fasting – this is certainly a great petition to put forth in our prayer time regarding the fury nations, places and people. Why has all this come upon us now, for we even fight for our faith? As each Christian stood up they were shot by a young man filled with unrestrained violence and hate toward a people of faith in the state of Oregon.

Yet another mass shooting has occurred, while many are traumatized by the effects of all this violence. How sad, how somber and what an eye-opener for us all to continue to stand in our faith and prayers!  Continue reading

A Safe Place

image

God has a safe place for you. A place in His presence. A place where you can remain. A place where you can grow. A place where you can be free. A place where you can surrender. A place where you can be protected. A place where you can be empowered. A place where you can be renewed. This is the safest place.

Can we mirror that in our church, in our homes, at the workplace or perhaps starting with us? Can we be a safe place too? As I am one among many in the church, I ask myself this same question. How can I help to create that safe place? How can I help the various people that funnel through the church so that they sense a safe environment and safe fellowship? We cannot be the church that points the finger but we can be that church that points people to CHRIST! Continue reading

Prince of Peace

PrinceOfPeaceAs a writer God has given me words of depth, boldness, precision and transparency. When I needed my breakthrough, I wrote. When I had to pour out, I wrote. Whenever I feel that unction…I write. So many words that come to my mind and so I wish I could explain more. Sometimes I wonder even if the words are really understood the way that I know them. Words tied to my soul. Every word released with such weight.

My heart is overflowing with a good theme;
I recite my composition concerning the King;
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
Psalm 45:1

But as I listened to this song today for the first time, I could say these can be the most profound words that adequately describe my situation. Very much heartfelt lyrics and to the core of me. These make for such deep silent prayers that are recorded in heaven. God is watching down on us to bring us in sync. For a world divided, shattered lives and a fight to stay alive. This is the time we live in, yet with God giving us His Son (the Prince of Peace) we are able to endure it all valiantly and triumphantly.   Continue reading
