I See The Change

This is for Mobbie! Yes, that is for my mom. For those that have them still or if they have gone to be with the Lord, I would like to reflect on “mommyhood”.

She is the yarn mom, always working some how and some way. God bless her and all those mommies that make a difference.

She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Proverbs 31: 13-31

I realize that my mom had to work overtime to do many things on her own because my dad was no longer in the home. My mom had to fight her own wounds and battles. My mom had to hold the baton for the home and that was hard. But I will always be thankful for her. I have my mom with me now. I take care of her now. I provide what she needs when she wants. I am in a position now to bless her because she deserves to be blessed. I can see that even as a member of our home, she is still holding a baton. She helps me during the week. She cooks, cleans and helps always around the house. Even as she is hobbling with a bad knee.

My husband adores her, they talk all the time. She gives him foot massages and prepares his things too. As the kids were growing she always helped to watch them–no questions asked, she just did it. Our kids are her kids and that is a priority for her. Enough said. They love her so much. Sometimes I think even more than me–and I am okay with that because she deserves that love from a hard-pressed life.

It doesn’t matter what we didn’t do in the past, it matters what we do now. Her upbringing was hard and I don’t hold any grudges upon her for the past. None of that can be changed. I decided not to be a prisoner of my past. In a prison, there is nothing to do really, except be confined to one particular area. I have chosen to be free, live and progress! I understand the way that I am, I did inherit a lot from both my parents. I would never imagine to even see what God is doing in both of them separately.

But I see the change.

My dad is on a path to wellness after fighting liver and kidney cancer. My mom is on a path to wellness and wholeness after surrendering her life to God. She is a member of our church. She reads the bible everyday. She prays to God and is seeking to grow even in her age now. She is being fruitful. She is learning to engage with new church family and friends. I am proud of her. She is a woman worthy of honor and will always be my Proverbs 31 type of gal! I love her to pieces!!!

MOMMY you did it! You are the BEST mom anyone could ask for. I wouldn’t trade you for the world. You have two blessed kids–one serving our country as a US Coast Guard and one serving the Lord as a US Ambassador and pastor of a church. Wow! Look at what you have sown in us! You are beyond amazing mom! I love you.

For all those reflecting on the mommy that God gave them, just know that God always knows what He is doing. We appreciate the good with the bad. We live and we learn. We grow and we sow. We remember beyond the darkest days that they are still a person just like us, that God sent His Son to die on the cross for.

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
it was our sorrows[a] that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,
a punishment for his own sins!
But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
the sins of us all.
Isaiah 53:4-6 New Living Translation

Jesus, You did it for mommy and You did it for me. ❤

    Amen!!! On behalf of myself and my wife we would like to honor your mother as well. She calls me the clapper of the church and my wife adores her as she supports my wife in all things. She has loved my daughter and made her feel warm within the church, she has gave to my wife her heart of caring and has blessed our unborn child with an adorable amazing wear as Jacob had a special gift for his son Joseph…..She is full with laughter and jokes that fills the soul. May the Lord be with her always and continue to use her in her church home to enlarge HIS kingdom here on earth.

    When I see your mother at church I always ask her: Can I give you a hug? and she would say: sure!
    I tell you that her actions inspires me much. Here is this woman with back and knee problems can easily say am not going to church I don’t feel good, it’s cold, it’s raining my back/knee hurts ect. but NO she brings her comfort pillow rest her leg on the bench and enjoys the service WOW, WOW. Can we learn something from this woman’s example? I have!.
    God bless your Mom and all the beautiful mommies/mommy to be out there!
