More Than A Thorn

What if you asked everyday , “Dear Lord, remove this from me! I can’t have this anymore as a thorn in my life!” Thorns hurt! For three times the Apostle Paul asked and received his answer. Maybe you are in that same situation… Asking God repeatedly to take something away so that you can be free and the next day arrives and still that plague is present.

“Even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

The Broken One

The Broken One

We are still enjoying the remains of our summer. Blue skies, breezy weather, shining sun with it’s rays lighting up the sand and keeping warm our skin. Everything looks lovely. The tides from last week brought in a whole array of shells!!! Different sizes, shapes and bold colors. They are each unique. There are even some broken ones washed up from the shore. If you go far enough you’ll pull up some of the most amazing shells! We can make a collection of them for display.

She scoops down to get a different shell after shell that catches the eyes. Water is about ankle deep and not strong at all. Just enough to push the shells a bit so they glisten under the shallow water. This one stands out… It is white and blue… Perfectly striped all the way to the end but it’s broken!!! She tosses it back in the water. Oddly enough she feels an inner conviction and thought, “God wouldn’t throw me away if I was broken!” So she stoops back down digging into the water and sand for that broken one! Oh how lovely! She showed it to me and told me the story. I said, “but with all the shells you have here this broken one is the most beautiful one of them all! Look!” I tilt it a bit so you see the broken side and its that cobalt blue that some other steady beach goers had mentioned. The part where it was broke had a beautiful blue color and not like the others. Continue reading

Steal No More

Sunshine tooWhy do we allow things, people and situations to quickly rob us from our peace? We allow this to rob our joy. We allow this to rob our love. We allow it to take us off track. We allow these things to affect our minds in such a way that it impacts our entire being. But we have to come to a place where no matter what things are happening around us, that it won’t take away the radiance that God gives to us. Let us keep storing up in the right places good things! Ocean of Possibilities

image

It is just me and an ocean of possibilities. This came to mind as I looked upon a beautiful ocean that seemed endless. I spent another lovely morning at my favorite place in the whole wide world…the beach. I most enjoy these weekend visits to Long Island because I get to rest in such a serene and tranquil place for two straight days. I escape from the busy city, work, home, church, and everything else that keeps me tied up. It is my getaway from all. It is a time for me to recover from life itself.

Mike Shea wrote a phrase in a recovery journal: “When my faith is tested, can it be trusted?” It makes you ponder on the possibilities that are presented before us. In order to walk through those doors of opportunities we need FAITH for real. An unmovable faith, trust, confidence and stillness to wait for the right ones to walk through. Tonight I sat through a teaching given by my husband at our church and I got a little emotional at the words. I reflect upon my own personal story and think… Why does everything have to be so narrow?
