Food Is Fuel

Jesus often says that He is the bread of life in the book of John.  And in order for us to really be strong we need to have the best type of food.

Even with exercise to the body it’s important what we actually put in our body that makes the difference.

Food is what counts the most. Food is fuel. Fuel not the activity. What you put in you will shape you then the activity will define you!

The food helps us produce the fruit and the fruit actually shows us the character.  We cannot be impressed with charisma, we have to look for character in each of as an individual and as a Christian. This is wholesome talk! For how many really demonstrate the word of God in their daily living? How many demonstrate the words of God in their actions? How many demonstrate the gifts of God in all that they do? For what you do in private is far more important than what you do in public. For those things that happen privately will eventually be on display publicly.

“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock. “But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:24-27‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I don’t know about you but when the storms of life really come I don’t want to collapse like a house of cards. I want to stand strong, I want to be strong, I want to live strong in every single day.  And I know there’s a way to get there.  The tools to achieve this are all written out and found clearly in the Word of God.

You see when you look at a bodybuilder you know they’re not just doing the activity they’re putting in the right fuel that they need in order to achieve that gladiator look. You can exercise all week until you turn blue in the face but if you don’t put the right things in your body then you won’t have the results that you really want to see.

How do they do it? It’s the food.

They are eating healthier choices every single day. Day in and day out they ensure that their body is being fed the best food for it to grow healthy and strong.  Twinkies are not going to get you the look that you need but turnips will help to build you right.

So in the same way this is important to the body. This same concept is important to the soul. We can’t just survive on the activities in the church.  Just going to church once a week, to hear someone feed you the word or to go on the prayer line AGAIN! Yes those are all good but how will you eat your soul food throughout the week? You need to eat everyday right? And not just once a day but at least three major meals and for the workout master that will be six small meals.

How much more do we need God’s food? His power working through us everyday and not just in a church setting! We feed on all these things:

  • Prayer
  • The Word
  • Worship
  • Fellowship
  • Faith
  • Giving

This all makes for an amazing and steady flow of food, especially having variations of each! There is no other standard for us. There are so many avenues of prayer, tools for reading, styles of worship music, friends for fellowship, faith filled practice and having a heart for giving.

“I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” John 6:48-51 NKJV

Fill up on this faith-fuel and watch how strong you become, how defined you will be and how shapely you will look for the Kingdom of God! It is not just activities that will make you strong or prestigious. Our work isn’t just for show and tell. It is to live by it and demonstrate it… A life filled with faith and integrity.

That is the best food for our fuel. That’s power-fuell!!!

I keep coming back to this post because I find the message so beautiful and well written. I usually read it while I’m having breakfast too. Thanks for taking the time to be a blessing to others and FYI I will be reading it again. I also intend on sharing this post with a friend of mine whom I worship with and call brother.
