The Young One

Maybe it’s just another hurdle.
Another obstacle.
Another place right where there are internal challenges and opposition.
Those places, why can’t we just escape?

I’m sure Jeremiah asked that question plenty of times. The weeping prophet had so much to say. He never held it back.
You got to love Jeremiah, for there is one in us all. One that is more than familiar with those difficult places.

In the lack; insecure places.
Desolate places.
Lost and lonely places.
Problem places.
Chaotic and confusing places.

That is precisely where God calls us.

He spoke to young Jeremiah.
Inexperienced Jeremiah.
Unprepared Jeremiah.
Nervous Jeremiah.
Frightened Jeremiah.
Concerned Jeremiah.

Doesn’t that sound a bit like how we approach these things too?

Before I formed you in the womb
(Before you were even a thought He was thinking of you.)
(Before you were conceived.)
I knew you.
Before you were born
(He carefully played this out.)
I sanctified you.
I ordained you as a prophet to the nations.
Jeremiah 1:5

God has ordained you.
He has ordained me.

Ordain is to anoint, appoint, call, commission, deal with & decree.

You have got to DEAL with stuff in any given ministry. It all takes work.
When the going gets tough right? It is all about our perseverance.

We always point out our conditions, our weaknesses, our limitations and analytical questions to God during these trying moments or times of responsibility.

“We have a debilitating flaw to be self-critical.”
Christopher Cruz
US Coast Guards

We take this to the tenth power. Over extreme behavior and self-evaluation. To the point that it hinders our progress.

“Ah, Sovereign Lord, but I cannot speak.” NIV

“But I said, “Hold it, Master GOD! Look at me. I don’t know anything. I’m only a boy!””
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Why would God call someone that cannot speak? Would God call someone that knows nothing? Is that really the case?
Of course you could speak! Of course you can do something.
He is going to lead the way! It is called learn as you go. As you do things, you will learn more.
He just needs you to yield!

You don’t always need credentials, a three piece suit, a skirt down to the floor or support from the entire community!

For many times it’s the reverse!
You have no higher education, no fancy suits, no lengthy skirt to fit in and NO SUPPORT from anyone!
Maybe even from those closest to you… Sometimes it is absolutely none of that.

Did God consider all of that?

I am sure!

This is the result… He tells us:
Go where I send you, say what I tell you and do what I show you.
Got that Jeremiah!?!
My purpose and plan for you and others is sovereign.
No more questions My young one.
For always I will be among you.
