Avalanche

Make the Lord a safe place.

Make Him a refuge.

Make Him the sanctuary.

Make Him the hiding place.

If an avalanche begins in your life, you seek safety. Your life is at stake. It is hanging on the balance. But there is a place where you can run, EVERY SINGLE TIME! No matter what the case is… Make Him that safe place to go to.

An avalanche in the first term is a mass of snow and rocks falling rapidly down a mountainside. The second term describes as a sudden arrival or occurrence of something in overwhelming quantities. I think it can be fair to say that in life we will have our share of avalanches!

Some are WONDERFUL and amazing, especially when God pours out in such abundance. It can be so overwhelming and it leaves you in awe. Words are few. It is hard to express and explain what you feel. God does that. He surprises us and graces us with His presence and power.

Naturally, we will also experience the downfall at times too. Times where thoughts bombard you, issues try to take root, situations rapidly occur and where opposition collides with your progress! But this scripture reminds us to make the Lord our “safe place” during these times. We should go to HIM when we feel afraid, when we need protection, covering, shelter or when we are faced with such resistance against the purpose. The enemy likes to bombard us. He will always attack that purpose, destiny and identity. He is strategic indeed. I can compliment my enemy, surely, he is good at what he does–BUT I WILL exalt my KING and my God. Because He is sovereign. Because He will fight my battles. He WILL. He is Alpha and Omega.

ALL POWERFUL!

Be reminded. Be encouraged please, when you think the enemy won’t relent–know that God won’t relent EITHER in making sure that you are in a SAFE place! Run for cover! He’s got you!

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
He is my God, and I trust Him.
For He will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with His feathers.
He will shelter you with His wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
Just open your eyes,
and see how the wicked are punished.
If you make the Lord your refuge,
If you make the Most High your shelter,
No evil will conquer you;
No plague will come near your home.
For He will order His angels
to protect you wherever you go.
They will hold you up with their hands
so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
You will trample upon lions and cobras;
You will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in My name.
When they call on Me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.
I will reward them with a long life
and give them my salvation.”
Psalm 91 New Living Translation

So when the enemy comes in on you like a FLOOD…like an avalanche and you feel that rush of opposition–RUN TO THAT SAFE PLACE! Under His protection and care, the enemy will NEVER be able to prevail. When you feel that weight of life come down heavy upon you, RUN FOR COVER. Run to that word. Run to His presence. He’s got you. He will fight for you. He will keep you. He will ensure that His plan will be fulfilled.

But this is what the Lord has told me:

“When a strong young lion
    stands growling over a sheep it has killed,
it is not frightened by the shouts and noise
    of a whole crowd of shepherds.
In the same way, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
    will come down and fight on Mount Zion.
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies will hover over Jerusalem
    and protect it like a bird protecting its nest.
He will defend and save the city;
    He will pass over it and rescue it.”
Isaiah 31:4-5 New Living Translation

And every single time that fear tries to come over you because of the avalanche, will be every single time that God will rescue you! Have no fear. Build your faith. God will always keep you…even when you think it is fierce. For no avalanche can overpower the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!

The One that LIVES in you!
You are safe!
