What Does Friendship Look Like?

We have been talking a lot about collaboration –togetherness –relationships and growth.

With that we take into account our friendships.  The ones that really help us to get to the next level and excel in every area.

We had an awesome Women’s Wednesday on Zoom (catch it here) where we shared with Minister Cristina Bonilla ❤ Here are some major GREAT highlights from that session:

  • God will place people in your life so that you can grow.
  • Kindness is giving your best self without promise or return.
  • Fear is what cripples us from moving ahead.
  • Am I going to allow this fear to cripple me?
  • We need to understand the power of relationships.
  • God calls us to connect with others.
  • Friends that will take you through seasons of life.
  • Friends are to fuel your spirit.
  • Friends will sharpen you; edify you; grow you.
  • Be willing to carry you through those seasons.
  • Don’t lose the priceless gift of friendship.
  • Don’t compare your friendship(s) to anyone else.
  • We need honest conversations that become healthy relationships.
  • We need to know how to fight for friendships.
  • Look at the result of why you are that friend.
  • We need to know what does friendship look like and teach the next generation.
  • Not everyone is “covenant”  –this takes time –this takes maturity –this takes prayer.
  • Understand the pinnacle moments in a person’s life.
  • Did that person fuel you or cripple you?
  • It is not fair to expect all things –different friends give you different things.

Here are a few resources that help us when it comes to company, friendships and the right type of relationships.  Starting with the Bible. This is what the word says…

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
1 Corinthians 15:33

I am a friend to anyone who fears you— anyone who obeys your commandments.
Psalm 119:63

Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Proverbs 13:20

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
Proverbs 17:17

One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:24

Here are some other hits from a book “Already Amazing” by Holley Gerth that covers topics of relationships. Just take the time to reflect on these things… pray on these things… and ask God to lead you on a path that will be filled with healthy relationships.  In His Name.

aaron-burden-2bg1jPty490-unsplashSo I got these BIG plans for the upcoming weekend and that is truly to try and NOT be online.  Seriously! I love working remote but I definitely want to spend some time away from this bright light screen for a bit.  Sitting here as early as 8 am until 7 pm most nights can take its toll and then have to jump on for other meetings and stuff for ministry.  That is just a whole lot of activity and a need for a little bit of an escape.

We work online.

We pray online.

We meet online….

Everything is online … The “god of this age” is at war here –blinding our eyes from the natural things of this life.  Not that technology is all that bad of course we need it and can reach across continents all over the globe.  But here all day online is a bit much.  I  am ready to walk away for a much needed break.

I want to go outside and walk.  I hope to read a non-electronic book.  I will plan on writing in my journal. Catching up with folks not by screen, audio will work!

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Matthew 11:28 MSG

Who would have know that staying at home and working at home would have been even more intense then getting up and out into the office. It is not like we are here doing nothing, but we are connecting everyday remotely even more so to keep abreast, stay in touch, strategize, continue to plan and execute an abundance of tasks.

It is a lot! I am ready to walk away for a bit! How about you??? You will not be able to catch me online this big holiday weekend… because this big plan of mine for the weekend is to STAY OFFLINE! Let’s see if that works for the most part.  That is the goal.

Before we would gear up, pack our bags and set sail for the start of the summer.  Now we are just as uncertain and wait to hear better news for a cure to this pandemic. God have mercy on us all.

The big plans now are to find a rest for a bombarded mind.  Let’s try to stay away from the mental falls and be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Enjoy the long extended weekend all.

With Love,

Christina ❤

Spiritually Speaking: SURVIVORS

I wish that I could tell you that it was going to be easy. That your process of survival, renewal and healing would happen overnight or that it would be in a blink! But that is not the case. It is not easy to bounce back from a place that has caused severe wounds such as breaking ungodly soul ties, overcoming a divorce, unemployment, experiencing lack, the loss of a loved one in any capacity, overcoming sickness and abandonment, betrayal, addiction, depression, co-dependencies, or any other experiences that have taken up deep places in your soul.

Unfortunately, the process of healing is actually long, stressful and sometimes very painful. I could tell you what everyone needs to hear, that you will experience a rebirth and a point of peace that you never thought would be possible.

You have survived. You are not alone. There are people to help, those assigned to you as leaders, mentors & supporters. This can primarily be found within a body of believers in what we call “Church”.  In Church we have an opportunity to fellowship and connect with others especially through the darkest times –we never want to put ourselves in a position where we isolate.  That alone can set us up for failure if we are always running away in silos.

Today we find ourselves living through the most adverse times in our world especially now in the state of a global pandemic! We have to connect!!!

The roles the church would always be a means in helping us as women in dangerous times like this.  There will be members that pray first and with you. They can provide comfort, an ear and words of encouragement along the way. They can also step in and guide you should there ever be a serious threat in any capacity.  God is always with you, but He will point you in the right direction of others to assist.

Where there is no counsel, the people fall;
But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
Proverbs 11:14

Through God, certainly you will overcome. It just takes a whole lot of trust and surrender. It takes disciplined time and a pace that will get you to a steady journey on your way to health and wholeness.  The church can be such a means for us to learn and practice this. It takes being a part of a body of believers –even if it means we are doing it remotely.

We also have to submit to a regular lifestyle of prayer, fasting, study of the word, worship, healthy relationships, counseling, listening to godly and spirit filled music, sermons, hobbies, work, travel, exercise and so many other rich and positive activities that will take you to a higher and stronger walk with God. Whatever it takes for you, just understand that it will most probably be unique for you.

Every case is different. Some people don’t require all that and they have strong coping mechanisms but for others that have passed through heavy storms will definitely need a lot of help and encouragement along the way. Just understand that this is your unique process. Be patient.  Whatever you have to do to receive healing and wholeness has got to be done regardless of the opinions and thoughts of others on how you decide to connect for support. Be free in that! At this point in your life, it is about pleasing God and getting to a place where you are stronger and able to stand valiantly.

Trust your process! You are a strong survivor –especially if you are reading this now. God will take you out of any storm. It will happen for you! You didn’t come this far to give up now. You can walk again. You can run again. You can laugh again. You can love again. You can work again. And lastly… you can and will succeed again & again & again!

Just keep walking toward the goal. You are a survivor.  Keep telling yourself that.  Keep your head up high. Even to the point where it will encourage other’s when they get to see and experience God’s strength through you.  This is your time. The obstacles only arrived for you to embrace the many opportunities available to you. This is your season. This is a GREAT season for you to flourish! You survived for a reason! Be blessed my sweet sisters.

“But those who trust in the Lord
will renew their strength;
they will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary;
they will walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31

Hope everyone is able to safely enjoy the outdoors in this fantastic weather we are having. Went walking today up the parkway and didn’t get very far. Fully covered, masked, sort of prepared except I didn’t have my walking sneakers and socks on. By the first mile I already felt the blisters boiling. 😞But I kept on.

We did three miles at least. I will definitely be more prepared for next time! I need to listen. Even with the blisters, gotta keep moving. That’s just the way it is when things don’t always work out in your favor you have to walk it out anyway!!

Heard today by Stella Wariso on “Finding Hope in Community” instead of saying “Why Me“ say “Try Me!” In the face of our adversary & in the face of adversity. Stand encouraged.

As we are to be as bold as ever approaching outdoors. We can walk again. We can run again. We can laugh again. We can love again. We can work again. And lastly… we can succeed again & again & again! Just keep walking toward the goal.

God is taking stuff out and putting stuff in us. So that when we are out there again, we may still get bruised and blistered but we will keep going and growing —stronger than ever before. This is a great season for us to flourish! Inside & outside! Indoors & outdoors. Internally & externally. Internationally & domestically.

Time to bring what we have stored indoors —> OUT!! It is beautiful outdoors! So much opportunity! Let’s get it!! Let’s go!! Let’s try it!!!

“but those who trust in the Lord
will renew their strength;
they will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary;
they will walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
