Fasting Folly

image

“So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2:2-9‬

Sometimes it’s hard to make decisions. Not sure where to go, what to do, how to say, when to move. We don’t want to make foolish choices that will cost us much. With many seasons of change, how do we know we are moving in the right direction? In our time of prayer, we are fasting folly. Continue reading

Fasting Fury

imageHow furious this world is demonstrating unrestrained or violent anger, rage, passion, or the like; violence; vehemence; fierceness and wrath are plundering through the nations.

In a time of our fasting – this is certainly a great petition to put forth in our prayer time regarding the fury nations, places and people. Why has all this come upon us now, for we even fight for our faith? As each Christian stood up they were shot by a young man filled with unrestrained violence and hate toward a people of faith in the state of Oregon.

Yet another mass shooting has occurred, while many are traumatized by the effects of all this violence. How sad, how somber and what an eye-opener for us all to continue to stand in our faith and prayers!  Continue reading

Fasting Fear

imageWhenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
Psalm 56:3

I feel afraid. I hate that feeling. It is a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.

It just comes and goes. I feel afraid. I don’t want to relapse into a world of darkness. I feel afraid. Am I prone to wander or prone to relapse? I don’t want to feel afraid. But I won’t be human if I did not feel that. The feeling WILL come. Just like the psalmist wrote… whenever this feeling comes…I will TRUST IN YOU! Continue reading

Lose Laziness

imageI need to lose this laziness that is taking deep root in me. I really do NOT feel like going to the gym after having a few days off and after having a run of inconsistency for the last several months. Yes it is certainly taking its toll now. Imagine how that would be on the spiritual side of us if we know the physical gets quickly impacted. There has to be a good jump start to lose this laziness.

What you sow –yep! You certainly reap that. Here is the reminder of that:

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Galatians 6:7-9

We have to SOW so that we can grow! Continue reading
